Anyone tried mint tea for night weaning?

I've heard mint tea reduces your milk supply and I wondered if anyone had ever tried it for night weaning? I'm planning to cut feeds by reducing the time feeding by a minute a night for a few nights so she isn't hungry. And I'm wondering would it also work to reduce the milk I produce gradually using mint tea?

I read the same thing about sage tea and drank lots of it when I was trying to cut back on bf. (My DC are teens now) It tasted disgusting, not sure if it worked!
Sorry that's prob not helpful!

What age is your DC? If they're under 18 months then they may well need your milk to be replaced by formula overnight. Depending on why you want to night wean this might defeat the point unless you have a partner who can take on night feeds.

She's 14 months. We want to wean so we can try for a second. She has taken the odd cup of milk during the night. I think if we can get her down to 1 feed that might be enough (she's a 2 hr wake up baby at the moment)

I stopped breastfeeding cold turkey at 10 months. I pumped manually a couple of Oz at each feed time for a few days then pumped for comfort at each feed for a couple of days then hand expressed just for comfort when ever I felt engorged for a few days. This took about a week, around a week later I had an evening of being engorged and that was it.

I didn’t try mint tea no. I don’t agree with her needing milk overnight until 18 months. Most HCPs will say that it’s fine to night wean from 12 months.

I moved mine to theor own room at about 14 months. Night feeds seemed to naturally decrease and I became PG twice shortly afterwards.

There is a good article here on getting PG whilst BFing.

And as well as mint tea, which certainly doesn’t sound as though it will do any harm, you might want to try some gentle night weaning Flowers
