CMPA - EBF to formula

Baby is 8 months and has CMPA (he can tolerate dairy in my breastmilk now, he couldn't until around 6 months, but even the smallest amount of dairy in a biscuit will make him very sick). Breastfeeding is great for him, he's thriving but I am going mad. I had to go back to work and trying to pump is not going well at all.

What kind of formula should l ask the GP to prescribe? And how do I introduce it? Just make a bottle and give it and hope for the best?

I'm so stressed and tired, I'm too exhausted to do proper research. I did some when he was 4 months and concluded it was a nightmare to even try at the time.

He has taken well to solids but he has not dropped his milk intake at all.

My DD had CMPA and couldn't be BF at all as it made her so poorly with blood in diarrhea and vomiting etc. She was given prescription formula which basically has all the ingredients to support growth etc. I warn you it tasted horrible and I was really upset at the time that not only couldn't I breastfeed but I had to replace it with chemicals. She did take to it well though and thrived. Once she got to 12 months we had to introduce oat milk and we used that or the formula in porridge etc. If your DC is only 8 months I think the prescription formula is the only other option at the moment. Good luck!
