Why is my breastmilk blue?!

I asked my HV and she said it was to do with the water/fat composition and light refraction but I have been regularly pumping for 8 months and it has never been blue. I thought it may have been because we are unwell with a viral infection but I can’t find anything online to support that. Is this ok to bottle feed? Baby has been off feeds so I am having to pump to relieve engorgement/keep supply up. Thanks in advance!

Mine went this sort of blue / green when my baby had a bug! The HV also told me it was just extra liquids, but it’s absolutely safe for them to have, Infact I think it’s what they need as a reaction to the various viral stuff around. Does look weird when it happens tho 😅

Breast milk is so cool 😎

I could never store mine sadly. Something to do with high fats meaning it goes off very quickly. Spoke to La leche league who said you can change diet to have less olive oil/ those types of fats. I said sod that 😂 I practically run on olive oil.

It’s an amazing thing. Don’t worry your body will be producing what babe needs.
