Leaking milk from nose

Hi everyone,

So my baby is 2 weeks old and I've been doing the side lying feeding, but I've been noticing that milk leaks from her nose. At first I thought it was just my boobs leaking milk onto her face but then I noticed that she breathes like she has a blocked nose and it's actually the milk coming out of her nostrils.

I don't want to change feeding position as it's the most comfortable position for me as I suffer from very bad back pain and neck tension, I have tried other positions already.

Many thanks in advance!

I had a lot of difficulties with breastfeeding and when I mentioned my baby sometimes leaked milk from his nose they wanted to check him for any issues with his palate. If your baby is gaining weight and not having any other issues it’s likely nothing to worry about but if this happens frequently I would mention this to your HV or your midwife if you’re still under midwife care.

This. Please get your baby checked asap.
