Breastfed baby - is this poo normal?

My EBF baby is nearly 10 weeks and his poo this morning looked like this, normally it’s quite runny. Does this look normal? It’s the first time his poo has been this texture. Thanks!

Hi there, more common for it to be more like English mustard in colour and texture. Assuming you also have wet nappies there's not generally too much to worry about, it's hydration that is key.

Sometimes it may be a bit more like this if the baby hasn't done a poo for a few days but you didn't mention that so I guess probably not.

You haven't mentioned that your baby is unwell so I assumed they are well.

I would perhaps offer extra feeds this evening and over night especially if there were fewer wet nappies than normal today. In most cases like this it reverts to normal pretty quickly.

The NCT feeding line is open 8am till midnight every day of the year and is staffed by trained and paid breastfeeding counsellors so why not give them a call to talk it through. I am a bfc myself.

@stilllostinthecity
Thank you so much for reply! I did as you suggested and the poo did indeed revert back. Have also saved the NCT feeding line for future. Thanks again!

A good rule of thumb with newborn breastfeeding babies is that dirty nappies should look like chicken curry!
