Switching from breastmilk to formula

Hi,

Any advice on ways to get my daughter use to formula? When she was born she was on both breastmilk and cow and gate until my milk came in. I then just exclusively expressed so she's been use to bottle feeding from day one and she's been on breastmilk ever since. I'll be going back to work in the next couple of months and my milk is starting to reduce. Over the past couple of weeks I've been trying her with formula but she's just refusing to drink it. I've tried mixing breastmilk with a little formula but still haven't had any luck. It's starting to get me worried as my frozen stash is reducing also and I don't want her weight to start dropping because she's refusing to feed.

Any tips or advice would be highly appreciated.
Thank you 😊

What teats are you using? It’s best to use one that’s as soft as possible.

Tommee tippee natural start. She's used them from day 1 and haven't had any issues

Ah, I see so it’s the change in taste that is likely to be the issue? Have you tried Kendamil? Cow & Gate formula tastes pretty vile but Kendamil actually tastes nice.

How old is she?

I had this with DC1. What worked for me in the end was starting with a bottle of mainly breastmilk and a small amount of formula, and over the course of a few weeks I gradually increased the ratio of formula to breastmilk until the whole bottle was formula.

I've tried kendamil last night and she gaged and vomited. Should I keep trying different brands? If she does accepted one, mixed with breastmilk. How many feeds or how long do you reckon I should give before reducing the breastmilk?

She is almost 6 months old

Maybe she is intolerant to cow’s milk? You could try goats milk instead as that’s more gentle on the tummy.

May be a dumb question but what brands contain goats milk? Sorry but I'm new to all of this

Thank you for all your comments 🙂 Had her at doctors as she had a reaction and turns out she does have CMPA and is now on special milk. Been mixing breastmilk and her new milk and has been working... so slowly going to be building up the oz's on her new milk.
