1 year old refusing all liquids apart from breast milk

My little boy turns one tomorrow and has just recovered from a cold, however, since having the cold he is refusing all drinking cups and beakers etc. he will only breastfeed which I wanted to try and stop as I'm pregnant and have become really sore. Any tips on how to get him to drink water from his cups and bottles again, he won't even have milk from them just pushes them away.

Take yourself out of the picture as much as possible and get dad or nursery to be in charge of feeding and drinking

He probably won't for a bit but that's ok, you can still wean him from BFing.

BF babies take roughly the same amount at this age whether they feed twice or twelve times.

I'd start with some gentle night weaning. Once you've cracked that, look at the next feed you want to drop, maybe Dad could take them straight down for breakfast?

If taking a cup is really bothering you, try him with a dose of Ibruprofen, check to see if they've got any teeth coming through, feed them some high water foods and try them with a straw. Most DC will try a straw as they like the novelty Wink
