Start using the travel cot now before you go so they are used to it.
request a bassinet seat on the plane, more nappies than you think you need and have zero expectations.

Pack multiple sets of outfits in hand luggage in zip lock sandwich bags.
Sleepsack as plane can get cold.
Water and snacks for you.

Tell airline staff you are nervous - they couldn't have been nicer to me when i flew with dd a couple of years back

Na it’s fine ! We took our 4 month and 3 year old to Thailand - the baby was super easy! Just fed him loads for the flight and he slept well in the bassinet

I didn’t Stress about naps / routine tbh -‘just went with the flow and let him sleep whenever really. He could sleep in the buggy and we just got on with whatever we wanted to be doing.

This is so reassuring!! Did he cry loads when overstimulated etc

Not really! The toddler was harder work tbh 🤣🤣 the baby slept a lot and I had a snooze shade for the buggy so could make it black out for him if I was trying to get him to sleep!

We flew at night like 9pm and luckily he slept nearly the whole flight!!!

Did loads of travelling with our little one.
id say

  • couple of spare outfits - babies tend to have blow outs on flights - go for sleepsuits as they are just one item. -take a spare outfit for yourself - I think mine was a thin dress I could just stick on more nappies than you think you need
  • feed during take off and landing
-agree with pp go with the flow with naps don’t worry if it seems all over the shop -I took a muslin that smelled of home

Also take a spare outfit for yourself. Everyone packs extra for baby but I've seen many a parent sicked / pooped / peed on - myself included 😂😂😂

Yes on the clothes as others said! I was down to the last outfit about 8 hours into the 13 hour flight 🤪🤪

and I changed my own T-shirt twice!!

I brought some pull ups too as sometimes it was easier to just use one of those than to have to lie the baby down on the table if he was being fussy!

also Milton wipes - I wiped down all the surfaces as the tables and stuff were gross (my daughter ended up with the flu after the long haul flight 😩)
