Hello all,

For those of you who breastfed in the beginning before trying your LO on a bottle. Any advice as to how to do it?

Since my LO was 7 weeks old I have tried on 4 occasions to give them a bottle with expressed milk and failed, they would cry and get too upset. Tried different feeding positions. Ended up putting them on the breast and they would calm down and feed.

They are now 10 weeks old. Tried a bottle with cow and gate formula. They didn't object at first but I think they don't like the taste but didn't mind the teat.

I am resorting to formula due to the fact that I don't have time in the day to express enough for a bottle due to my LO needing to feed almost every 1.5 hours. Even when they nap, they don't go down for long enough.

I want to establish both breastfeeding and bottle feeding so I have more of an option for my husband to feed the baby so I can take a break or if we're out and about I don't need to worry about finding a secure space to breastfeed them.

I also am looking to eventually go back to work when they're 9 months old but start doing my KIT days when they're around 5 to 6 months old. I don't want to be a in a position that far down the line that they are taking both mushy food but still looking to breastfeed off me if I can help it. I'd rather at that point have them be happy to take it or leave it with breastfeeding and see it more as a comfort rather than their main food source.

If the bottles I'm using or the teats at least are the the issue. I don't want to have to go out and buy a load of other brand bottles if I can help it. I currently am trying nuk bottle brand. If there is a brand that has a near 100% success rate of working I would greatly appreciate what brand that is and try that first

This also goes for formula brands aswell. Thanks.

Hi
I went fully over to bottle when bubba was 8 weeks. What helped me was bottle feeding at the same time each day and then building on it. Also hubby bottle fed and I went out the house. We used aptamil, found that best. Hope that helps!

My LO will be 12 on 01/03 and is now barely my LO at 5 foot 6 to my 5ft 2.5! Anyway for what it's worth, I had the same problems as you. I ended up giving up with bottle feeding, just too much hassle. Stayed at breast feeding till LO was 6 months, then introduced expressed milk in a sippy cup and also water. When I went back to work at 9 months used expressed milk in sippy cup which then became cows milk after 1.
