Can i use a Brita water filter to make formula with?

Morning everyone!

Since last week when the water company "accidentally" () cut off my water and then turned it back on it, i've been getting bits in the water, which i am informed are harmless. However, DD is now being FF and so i have to be really careful with the water now.

I am thinking about buying a Brita Water Filter to filter the water, then boil it and then use it for feeds. Is this ok? I dont know if the Brita softens the water or just literally filters it - i cant find much info about what it actually does on their website.

Any info would be FAB!

I don't see why not, given you are concerned about your water supply. But IIRC it's not generally advised. Have a look on the instructions on the formula tin, or google the manufacturer's web page, might be a helpline there.

I believe that a brita filter sticks mineral bits into it, rather like buying bottled water, so it's not recommended.

If you think it's just a temporary problem then maybe just put the water through a coffee filter paper instead, before boiling.

Brita filters make the water very, very acidic. If you ever do a test with filtered water and litmus paper it comes out at the highest acidity level on the PH scale.

You can buy kettles with built in filters. That might be a better idea.

Ah right ok, that's that out the window then! Think i'll use coffee filter papers in the meantime instead. Thanx for the info!
