first time mam here and so anxious desperate for advice. We’ve got a 4 week newborn and he’s an absolute dream, rarely fussy only when hungry/tired. He has no feeding issues, absolutely loves his bottle and is seemingly settled after feeding. We do all the normal things like burping, keeping upright after feeding, paced feeding. The past couple of weeks he seems to be uncomfortable in his sleep sometimes. Theres times where he is completely still and settled when on his back and in his bassinet. But sometimes during his naps and from 4am-7am he’s so noisy! He grunts and strains till he’s red in the face. His legs come up to his chest and his hands come up to his face. He doesn’t cry when he’s doing this he’s just noisy. I can’t tell if he’s in pain or if he’s just active sleeping. My worry is silent reflux, I can’t tell if he’s uncomfortable. His grunting/straining can happen even a few hours since he’s last eaten. Has anyone got any experience with silent reflux and is this what it sounds like? Can’t tell if i’m reading too much into it but don’t want to leave him uncomfortable.

Silent reflux with mine was more that they wouldnt like to be laying down at all, only napped being held upright etc.
sounds more like trapped wind to me.

that's what I was hoping, he's perfectly happy on his back playing etc during the day and once he wakes up the grunting stops. Thank You!
