Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone can help.. my 7wo DS has been diagnosed with reflux and prescribed infant gaviscon. He takes a bottle 1/2x per day but is predominantly breastfed. Any tips on how to give it for breastfeeds?

Goodness knows. We had a similar struggle but I can't remember who we managed to get the stuff into our DS.

Anyway, it made not one iota of difference and it turned out that our DS had Tongue Tie and various MWs, HVs & GPs had all missed it.

We used to give it to her in a small bottle part way through a breastfeed. We followed instructions on the packet which I think was to mix it with 5ml of cold, pre boiled water, then add another 10ml of water. It was a pain as you aren’t supposed to make it up in advance but it did help her reflux a lot!

I kept a jar of cooled boiled water, a dish, gaviscon sachets and a little dish next to me. During a feed a mixed the sachet with 10-15 ml of cooled boiled water and gave it at the end of each feed using a syringe. She was on 9 sachets a day at her peak. I was told to ideally give it at the start or mid feed but due to feeding aversions it took a few attempts to get her to do a feed so this was more practical for us. I kept a second jar filled with boiling water in the kitchen cooling and swapped mid day and in the evenings. We didn't give gaviscon in overnight feeds.

Does your LO have any of the symptoms in the link I posted @AuntieJay? Wink
