Help, really worried - 8 week old dd not feeding much

Sorry for the long message, but I am quite worried.

My 8 week old is exclusively bf, with a expressed bottle once a week.

This morning she fed at 7am for about 25 mins (15min then 10 min). She was really sleepy from 8ish, work for about 1 hour at 10.15am.

She usually has a bit at 10.30/11am, but refused and then was really cranky for sleep so she slept until 12.30. She then had about another 25 mins. Stayed up for a bit and then went to sleep again at 1pm.

Her feeding times are pretty short any way and now she is 5 hours between feeds, and is really sleepy (she's quite a good sleeper anyway).

Do I have anything to worry about? I would call my doctor, but I would rather not because I want to continue to BF and I am afraid that they will tell me to give her a bottle. Is there anything else that I can try?

We did start to give her a dummy to settle her at night. This may be a problem so have decided to stop this immediately.

Any thoughts or advice, or anything would really help.

Sounds as if she is a bit under the weather, babyOcho, maybe fighting a virus.

You can keep her close, so you can respond to very early feeding cues - maybe hold her in your arms as she sleeps. Might be sensible to keep her cool-ish, if you think she is feverish.

5 hours between feeds is a long time for most babies - and for most humans Are you saying that's her usual pattern???

maybe give HV a call before the end of the day.

Its very unusual her for her go for that long between feeds.

What Tiktok said really. I'd be surprised if a doc told you to give a bottle.

Some days they are just less hungry than others - like us really I guess.

I'd be calling the surgery if it continues into tomorrow.

As this long gap is so unusual, it's worth being careful and watchful.....check it out with the HV, as tomorrow is a Saturday and seeing a doc is more difficult.

Just got back from doctor and he checked her over and she is well. He said to keep an eye out and if she demonstrates any signs of dehydration, rashes, overheating etc to go to A&E. If her feeding doesnt get better by tomorrow AM then to go to A&E as well.

He did ask if we gave her any other fluid in a bottle and I said no, and you're right he didnt even suggest that I should stop BF.

Will keep her close and watch her even more than i usually do.

She did have just under 10 mins at 2pm, and she is also still sleeping.

Our docs are quite good, got an appointment within 30mins and I didnt even need to tell them she was only 8 weeks old.
