7 month old will only bottle-feed lying on his back!

Hello all

I just wondered if anyone had had any similar experiences..my ds is nearly 7 months old and has recently started taking the bottle (after having a love/hate relationship with breastfeeding..he mainly hated it!).

However, he won't feed in my arms, he squirms lower and lower down and throws his head back. He's almost as bad in a chair/bouncer. He'll only feed from the bottle happily/properly if he is flat on his back on the floor!

This seems rather odd, he seems to be able to swallow ok though..does anyone have any similar experiences?

Thank you

Hmm DD has a bit of a problem with sippy cups (she's breastfed still so she's not reliant on them) but we went straight to a doidy cup - that way they learn to drink sitting up very young and can go straight onto a normal cup within a few months. You could try that.

Thanks v much, at least it's not just him!

TheHedgeWitch, when did your ds grow out of it?! It's a bit awkward outside your own home to lie your child on the floor to feed him!

Whomovedmychocolate, it's odd but he will take water from a cup, sitting up..maybe I should just ditch the bottle!

Ah, good idea, I have been using a fairly slow flow as he was exclusively breastfed til 6 months, thought a faster flow might be too much of a shock..
Will get a faster flow tomorrow. Now, why didn't I think of that?!
Thank you.
