Should I be concerned!?

My 7 week old (8 weeks on Friday) is EBF and recently only feeds for 5-7 minutes per side and seems to empty them within this time.

Does this indicate that I'm not making enough milk??
I feed her every 3 hours, but at night she goes 5-6 hours (with our health visitors knowledge).

I'm worried maybe my supply is low as she drinks it so fast? Or is it normal at this age??

Thanks and Happy Christmas, if you celebrate it☺️

Is she pooing and weeing enough and following her weight centile? And is she a happy, content baby?

Has her weight done up and stayed up? 3 hourly feeds would have been a bigger gap than my 2 wanted. I would always offer a feed as soon as they showed any cues- hand to mouth, lip licking , head banging etc. Crying is a late hunger cue.

Hi.
I always found that my babies emptied my breasts in 6 - 7 minutes. I had four babies, and they were all roughly the same.

If your baby sleeps well between feeds, and goes for 5 - 6 hours overnight, that's really good.

As long as your baby has six wet nappies in 24 hours, they're getting enough milk.

@Jingleberryalltheway I change her before each feed and she has fully wet nappies each time, poo one a day (but is on infant gaviscon and this can cause less frequent poos apparently)

Also @autumngirlxo if your baby wasn't satisfied, she would not settle, and would cry for more.

@TheLurpackYears I feed on demand but generally she only gets hungry evey 3 hours ish and if she shows no signs at the 3 hour mark I just feed her anyway. Her weight is slowly gaining but not as quickly but the GP thinks it's due to her reflux (she is on infant gaviscon for it now)

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne thank you for your message, you've made me feel better. She has wet nappies (I change her before every feed unless she has a poo, and they're always fully wet). That's a big relief thank you for sharing your experience and information

Also, with my four babies, they all had different poo schedules (if that makes sense lol).

Two of them had poos every single nappy. So that was six a day.

Another one had a poo once a day, (like your daughter) and the fourth one only pooed once every three days.

As long as there's plenty nappies, wet and dirty keep doing what you're doing mama!
my baby only takes ONE side! For 5-10 minutes xx
