Today my left breast started to feel sore, sort of like when it's very full but in one particular place and it didn't go away after a feed.

About an hour ago I started to feel really cold and shivery and achey. I tried to feed DD from the affected breast (after reading this was the thing to do, but I had put it off until then and used the other side) but she wasn't having it (tiredness, not rejecting the breast).

I expressed as much as I could and massaged the sore area while doing it and I'm feeling a little better - still cold and tired but not feeling as dreadful as I did a while ago.

Is this mastitis? If so, should I just wait until tomorrow and go to the doctor or do I need to contact out of hours this evening?

Anything else I should do? I've taken paracetamol too and was planning to have a shower in a while.

can you have a nice warm bath and then try and express off that side again? I always found that helped

We don't have a bath, so a shower will have to do but I'll give it a go.

Miraculously DD woke up and fed for about 10 minutes, maybe less and that made it feel better. She has slept like a log between 7 and 10 for almost her entire life so it was like she knew I really needed her to feed today. Little sweetheart
