Help! Red, sore nipple! *pictures*

I’m 9 weeks into my breastfeeding journey with my first baby. This morning I was feeding him and after he was finished I noticed that my nipple was very red and has lots of little red and white spots all over my areola. It’s not overly painful, just a bit tender. It’s only happened to one nipple, other one is absolutely fine.

Any ideas what this is?

Congratulations on your little one. Are you using nipple cream, and do they favour that side more? I can recommend this one, my nipples ended up cracked and sore, I was feeding with tears streaming down my face in agony at one point and this was a life saver and doesn’t need washing off before feeding again.
