My 7 week baby has been latching really well for past 10 days (only started bf 14 days ago) but over Last 2 days has become really lazy with latch again in fact won't even open mouth wife enough for an effective latch!!

Driving me crazy, Any advice?

Is baby definitely hungry?
I found if I offer feed to soon baby is interested but not enough to really want to get on there.
Also I had an oversupply of milk so my let down was so strong sometimes baby just couldn't cope with it and would slip back into a really shallow latch to cope with the let down x

try putting your nip to your DCs nose which should encourage them to open their mouth wide enough. always worked with me x

The breastfeeding network has a 24 hour helpline for breastfeeding support 100 0212 0300 100 0212.

Their website had useful information which helped me learn about PPAA Positioning (of mum)
positioning (of baby)
approach (of baby)
attachment (of baby)

I also looked up videos about this - global health media and unicef were useful.

NCT- I read about the 4th trimester which helped me adjust my thinking and understanding. I became a bit less impatient with myself.

Remember to be kind to yourself. It’s so tough as both you and baby are learning a new skill which takes practice. You have to be the teacher to you both of you, even though you’ve never done it before - which is quite absurd! There is a serious lack of information to help mums establish and continue breastfeeding in a way that works for them as individuals.

Look for local Facebook breastfeeding groups, mums groups etc - join them all and browse for info. You can always leave any groups if they’re not your vibe. But it can be surprising to find what’s out there and nobody tells you 🤷🏼‍♀️ Local family hubs sometimes have free groups with infant feeding support workers.

wishing you well ☺️
