Itchy Breasts After Breastfeeding

Hello, my little one has just turned 12 months old. Since she was born my breasts/hips/stomach has been incredibly itchy. I do have eczema so have always put it down to this.

Has anyone had a similar case or believes it not to be eczema? I feel like it’s got worse as the time has gone on and my breasts are always itchy after breastfeeding.

thank you

Guessing it's the surrounding breast tissue and not just the nipple?

In the evenings I get incredibly itchy breasts just during and after a feed, there is no rash or redness.A lactation consultant said it could be any of the following:

  1. A reaction to saliva/or general skin sensitivity to increased feeding in the evening on delicate skin
  2. A rush of blood to the skin from contact or milk production

Mine goes away after around 5 minutes or so though and I've ruled out thrush.

I'd guess that if its been consistent for 12 months and you have eczema, it's likely to be contact/sensitive skin related. But if you haven't already I'd mention it to a doctor or at a breastfeeding group to see if they have any advice.
