Is my mastitis self resolving?

3rd time having mastitis in 8 weeks. Previous two times treated with antibiotics.

Yesterday developed a tender breast turned into fever/chills late at night. Fever improved overnight and has gone away today

I still have some breast tenderness (no worse than yesterday) along with a lot of redness in the affected area. Saw GP who prescribed more antibiotics but did say I could wait it out a bit to see if it improved first.

I feel well in myself today. Is it possible for mastitis with redness/fever to self resolve?

also my gp seemed surprised that my previous bouts were relieved completely within the first 1-2 tablets. She said it should take longer than that. Is this correct?

Yes I had mastitis a couple of times and didn't need antibiotics.

@Where2GoNext did you have fever and redness?

I had redness/severe pain but managed to get it under control before a fever started. Did feel lousy though.

Also I think they say that antibiotics usually take 24 hours to work, which is probably why the doctor seems surprised that one dose made a difference?

Antibiotics are no longer the recommended treatment for mastitis, which is breast inflammation. So absolutely, it can pass by itself once the inflammation reduces.

Anti-inflammatory medication and continuing to feed as usual (not more or less) can be really helpful.
