Is 5.5-6 weeks a growth spurt? Baby feeding allll day long

DS has been feeding for hours, every time I think he’s stopped and ready to sleep, he wants more food. He’s communicating this through rooting his arm, putting his hand in his mouth etc. If I don’t do it, he starts getting upset. I feel as though my boobs are surely empty! Is it a growth spurt right now?

Yeah all the extra feeding is how your boobs up the milk supply it just takes a while.

But I thought by now my supply was well established?

Yes but as the baby grows bigger they need more milk so you need to produce more and it can take a couple of days for your boobs to produce enough at the right time to satisfy baby. Perfectly normal/common.

Very common around 6 weeks. Like a PP they've grown and are sending your body a message that it's time to up your production.

My best advice is to get some snacks and drinks, a long charger cable, and either read or binge watch some TV

It will pass very quickly Wink

My DD has just turned 1, and I remember clearly spending every evening for about a a week when she was 6 weeks feeding constantly. But I also remember breastfeeding got consistently easier after that week. It’s so tough at the time, but it does pass, the first 6-8 weeks are the hardest

Thank you all for the reassurance ☺️
