I had a couple of bras, lots of breastpads (needed massively by me). Also had a hand held pump for expressing, though that was a bit pointless as dd never took to a bottle of EBM.

I think it would have scared me when pregnant into "omg - am I really going to need all that?" as one of the pros of bf for me was convenience. it wouldn't have scared me into ff, but they may well have made money from me.

Someone did suggest that the manufacturer's 'ideal mother' was one who wanted to bf so bought the bf kit... then failed at bf so had to buy the ff kit. I thought that was probably true and very sad.

nellie it's like a plastic er, boob-shaped thing that catches the drips when you leak so you can store them with expressed milk, rtaher than just absorbing them like pads

never used breastpads either. And not even a nursing bra (second time around). I did use an electric pump when dd was sick and was quite impressed.

So what would you consider necessary in a breastfeeding kit?

Personally I would have the following

a) A decent nursing bra
b) Breastpads
c) some Muslims
d) a very large block of Dairy Milk
e) A very large M&S chocolate cake.

Err c) should have been Muslins, obviously

But then again they could be useful if they declare a Fatwa on anyone who dared to disapprove of your breastfeeding in public...

Doesn't the Koran say to breastfeed until 3? So Muslims could be pretty useful to have around.
