I had DC at 32 weeks ~17 weeks ago. DC was in hospital for 7 weeks so I pumped every 3-4h to develop/maintain my milk supply. DC was discharged ~10 weeks ago and has been exclusively BF on demand (no longer than 3h between feeds). Weight gain has been ok, DC is 0.4th centile but has maintained this line, with plenty of wet/dirty nappies.
In the last couple of days my supply has substantially dropped, practically overnight.
I’ve been doing weighted feeds since DC was discharged (I’ve been anxious about their weight), with all feeds 45-100ml. I sometimes pumped after feeds and would get 70-100ml.
Today, all feeds have been 30-35ml with 30-40ml from pumping afterwards. I’ve been pretty stressed and teary this week but otherwise it’s been a ‘normal’ week. Last week I did have three blocked ducts but managed to clear them within a couple of hours. I didn’t have mastitis.
Does anyone have any ideas on what has caused this? Also any tips on how to boost my supply again? I’d also like to know if this has happened to anyone else & if their supply went back up? After everything we’ve been through with DC in hospital I’d be pretty devastated to have to stop BF much earlier than I planned.
