need a good sling for bfeeding, recomendations please

hi i need a good supportive sling for bfeeding my ds4, he is a big boy, already over 14lb at 5wks old and likes to feed/sleep at the breast so i need a good sling so i can cook, look after my other three etc.

have tried a ring sling but not found it very good, i have thought about the close baby sling but need to know if its any good before i fork out for it?

also on the mothercare site there a napsak mai tei? or something that looks good but it is more expensive than the close carrier, so again has anyone used it and found it good?

i like the look of these two as the babies weight is distrobuted across both shoulders which i find better.

ideally i want something thats not too fiddly tho i have used a wilkinet so can cope witha bit of fiddling, it just needs to be REALLY good for bfeeding

any thoughts tips on a good sling please

go for a woven wrap sling. they have a slightly bigger learning curve than a stretchy wrap sling but with a big boy, it will last till 3yo. A stretchy one will only last till around 20 lbs.

ok will have a look at a woven wrap sling thanks, i am not sure what kind the close carrier is.

close are stretchy i understand. not seen one.

Used a Kari Me sling at one point. It's a stretchy wrap sling, and you can feed in it (whilst they are fairly young, never tried it with a 6 month + baby), and it holds them really snugly against you in the upright position when not feeding (DD would doze permanently when carried like this). Can also do outward facing when a bit bigger, but if they are in a v wriggly mood it pulls out of shape. Also can be worn on hip for older baby/toddler (and on the back but not tried this).

Was v comfy and good for feeding and getting on with other things.

I used a bush baby cacoon. It has a separate harness and part that the baby goes into. Because of this you can slide the baby from side to side whilst in the sling making it easy to switch boobs without taking them out.

I have a stretchy wrap and they claim you can bf in it but with a bigger baby its quite hard. I cant manage it with ds and he is only 10lb. Think it is also harder if you are wellendowed in the boob dept (not a problem I have myself!)
Have heard MT is easier.

well my closer sling has arrived, put ds4 in it, within 5 mins he was bfeeding and asleep he is a big baby, going into 3-6mth clothes at 5 wks old, and it is fine with him, i am large busted too, an f cup but it was still ok.

i think it will take a bit of fiddling and practise before it is 'perfect' ifyswim? but def a fab sling, lovely and comfy and easy to use

ds3 thought it looked great and went and fetched his doll and a bit of cloth so i could make him a sling to carry his doll like i carry the baby very cute
