Do you need more than one nuby rapid cool?

Hey,

Do you really need more than one rapid cool? If people have them have they managed with one? I already have the one and was just going to get a thermos flask to use alongside it. I would ideally want to use it for most feeds but I know it takes 3 hours to cool. Would you just purchase one more just to be safe?

Thanks from a very confused FTM

So it depends how you use it. If you’re going to put the milk in there then I can see where you’d need more than 1 if you were going to be out for multiple feeds as you’d need to clean it after each use so wouldn’t be very convenient if you’re out for the day and could only use it once. But what I do when we use ours is just use the boiling water in the bottle with the formula as the “hot shot”, then pour the rest of the water into the Nuby to cool it & then add that to the bottle with the milk in and shake it. That way all that ever goes in the Nuby is the water x

Hi!

Thank you very much, that makes more sense. Yes I was thinking of doing the hot shot method as this is what I've read about most people doing. Do you use yours at night or just when you're our and about? Do you find 3 hours is too much time to wait in between feeds and find yourself just making bottles up as you go normally?

Sorry for all the questions x

I’ve bought a second as 3 hours wasn’t always enough time between feeds for us. Then we were having to resort to pre-made bottles and that’s expensive. Soon added up to the cost of a second Nuby. We got a different colour so we know which one was used last.

I use it at home to make the formula up. I add the powder to the Nuby and prep in that and transfer to the bottle.

Baby is only 3 weeks old so haven’t yet figured out what we will do if we go out for the day! I didn’t plan on formula feeding but breastfeeding just can’t get off the ground for us, so the Nuby seemed like a good way forward.

Would really recommend just two thermos's, one with boiling water and one with cooled boiled water. Then you can have as many bottles as the amount of water they can hold!

Hi! I don’t use ours at night usually as we combi feed now and she just prefers the boob at night, but one of my best friends has one and uses hers through the night and has no issue with it and she only has one.

The 3 hour thing is hard to predict! Newborn’s up to about 3 months ish can want feeds more frequently than 3 hours so it would potentially be an issue then, my daughter is nearly 6 months now and typically she’ll go about 3.5-4 hours between feeds so it would be fine to use now but even then sometimes she’ll fall asleep mid feed or just have a smaller feed than usual randomly so will want another feed sooner so may be tricky then.
