Back to work in 6 weeks and baby still bfs every 2 hours.

I've got my first KIT day in about 6 weeks, and I'll be doing every Monday until the Christmas holidays before going back properly in January. DS, currently 7months, will start at nursery on the Mondays before going to 3 days when I'm back properly. The problem is that he still breastfeeds every 2 hours. Sometimes he'll go to 3 hours, and overnight there are longer stretches, but it is usually 2 hours like clockwork. I'm just concerned about how he'll manage at nursery as I don't produce enough to have loads of expressed to send with him. He will take formula and happily takes a bottle but I don't want him just on formula all day. I know I could express at work but the likelihood is is that there won't be time for me to actually to do that.

He's taken to weaning well and enjoys his food but hasn't dropped any milk feeds yet. I'm less worried about the January start as he'll be almost 11months then and at a very different stage than now. I also didn't have this with my eldest as he was on Similac formula so had that at nursery and just had breastfeeds at home, but was a lot less bothered about breastfeeding, dropped his feeds periodically, and more or less weaned himself off the breast by about 15months.

I'm just feeling at a bit of a loss and am unsure what to do.

Sounds like you work in education. If so return to work first day of Christmas holiday not in January, so you get paid over the holidays

Are you definitely unable to express at work? Apart from anything else you might find that quite uncomfortable.

Regardless, if it's still six weeks until your KIT days, I would start expressing once a day now, between feeds. Don't worry overly about the quantity you can express, just try to get into the habit. Any milk you express now can be frozen and sent in with him when on your KIT days.

Based on his age and how long you have to go, there is also a good chance he will have upped his solids intake by then as well.
