Baby's weight ballooning after starting solids. What was I doing wrong before?

I breastfed my dd for 6 months exclusively. She dropped from 75th centile to just below 25th centile after she was ill with bronchiolitis at around 6 weeks, but then stayed there and gained weight in line up until she started solids.

I am now feeding her 3 meals a day and continue to breastfeed. Over the last 3/4 weeks since starting solids she has jumped up to the 50th centile. I am not force feeding her, she is 'birdying' her mouth open and very keen on her food.

I used to feed her on demand and fed her often - like every 2 hours (sometimes more) - and she woke for 2/3 feeds in the night. Was she hungry for all this time? I can't think what else I could have done as I did everything by the book, so although everything is alright with her this does have me scratching my head about what went wrong.

it might just be her age / developmental stage and she'd have put the weight back on on milk alone anyway

if she's happy don't worry about it - she seemed satisfied at the time and is fine now, so no point raking over the past. Onwards and upwards!
