Hi
im hoping for some experienced mums help please? first time mum here, baby 15 weeks now. Exclusively breast fed from birth and is now weighing 14 pounds 3.

We have gone from night feeds of one 5 hour stretch then every 3 hours after.. to the past two nights 7 hours stretch then 3 hours.

My period is starting to come back slightly.

Im worried im not going to have enough milk to feed baby! I’ve never pumped or don’t use the haaka as I have had oversupply and overactive let down problem before so very scared to pump as I think I’m very sensitive to making milk!

Any reassurance would be much appreciated! Xx

You milk supply will be absolutely fine try not to worry 😊 x

As long as you’re feeding the baby when they wake to be fed, your supply will be fine so try not to worry. It’s definitely normal for babies to go longer without feeding in the night at this age and your supply adjusts because they’ll probably take more in the day

I wouldn’t worry about periods returning, it’s very individual. My friend EBF and has always fed at least 2 hourly in the night and hers returned when baby was around 8 weeks old, we combi fed and night weaned and mine didn’t return until 11 months. And neither of us had supply issues

My little one was doing stretches like this at this age - no need to worry. By 20 weeks they were waking every 2hours again, it can change quickly. My period returned at 9m but I continued to feed with no supply issues until 20m x

It should be fine. My DS was sleeping 8-4 then 4-7 at 8 weeks. (Sadly at 15 weeks he was waking 6-10 times a night!) I never pumped and my supply was never affected.

Should be absolutely fine. My little one was doing some great stretches of 5 hours at around 14-16 weeks however since then we seem to have been hit with the dreaded sleep regression and he is now waking up every 1/2 hours and feeding more often during the night with no issues. I had one period appear randomly and then didn’t have another one and I have now had the coil fitted. Enjoy your rest whilst your little one sleeps!

Don’t worry, your body adapts and will make milk to feed baby. Mine is now 4 months and was doing 5 hour stretches and is now back to every 2 hours so enjoy the longer sleeps whilst you can!

If baby is generally happy and has plenty wet nappies, your supply is fine. Try not to worry!

It's supply and demand, your body will make milk for when your baby needs it. You don't want milk in the night when they are not awake. Your body is adjusting to the demand. If you are still breastfeeding in a year you might only be feeding once in the AM and once in the evening. You don't want engorged boobs the rest of the time. Your body just adjusts. Similarly if they decide they aren't getting enough during the day, they might start waking at night again and then your supply will adjust accordingly.

Is your worry about the good chunk of sleep, or the period? Or both?
My period came back at 6 weeks when mine slept through (briefly!!) and I EBF for 18 months with no issues. I'm sure it will be fine!
