Not sleeping through any more

DS has been a perfect angel sleepwise since he was 6 weeks old. However, he's now 4.5 months, and has started to wake up once or twice in the night. I've started giving him a feed when I go to bed at 11pm, and that seems to help him hold out until 4:30 or 5:00. He's breastfed, with one bottle of formula (in addition to a bf) at bed time.

Is there anything I can do to help him go back to sleeping through, or is this it until I wean him now? Will switching his one bottle of formula to a "hungry baby" formula make any difference?

I breastfed both my DS's when they started having 'top up' bottles they both went straight to hungry baby formula at the time milupa was the closest to breast milk, not sure now though, have you thought of increasing the amount of the 'top up' feed? Both mine went on to quite high amounts

You are extremely lucky to have had this period of restful sleep and it probably will return but quite honestly at this point he's going through a big growth spurt and may also be starting to teethe so he's going to be wakeful. You just have to grin and bear it I'm afraid. Throwing extra formula down will only give him wind and bloating and neither are conducive to rest.

It will pass though - you may find in a few weeks things just settle down. Or you may spot a new tooth.
