FTM here! My baby is 5 and a half months old and from 3 months has been combi fed and then from a few weeks ago fully formula fed.
He was having 5 200ml full bottles between 7am - 10pm and then often sleeping through (sometimes with the odd wake up around 3am in which case I was BF that feed, I wondered whether it was for comfort as he didnt always wake for that feed).

However I have stopped breastfeeding, and he is still waking up 1-2 times after 10pm, but according to all the guidance I would be over feeding him if I offer him more bottle milk, because he has the recommended in take between 7am - 10pm.
Because he sometimes sleeps through I know he can last without milk, but when he does wake up he does seem hungry so I don’t want to not feed him.

Any advice from experienced formula feeders?!

I would give him a feed. They are guidelines only and if he's hungry for it, then he's not being overfed. Often with their feeding pattern, it can be liable to change so I've always gone with a loose routine with and if they want an extra feed here and there then I just went with it.

What happens if you push the last feed to 11pm or midnight? Would that see him through a bit longer?

@GigiAnnna thanks, that’s made me feel better about giving an extra feed at this stage.

@Slowfeedingbaby thanks for the reply! I wouldn’t mind feeding later, but it’s on demand (we don’t wake him, he just typically wakes around 10-10.30pm for the feed). The feed before that is usually 6pm and he goes down to sleep at 6.45pm.
