Confused mumma!

My 6.5 month old baby has been exclusively breastfed. He never accepted a bottle which is fine because I love feeding him. We started to introduce solids at 5 months and he LOVES his food.

The last 5 nights he has refused his bedtime breastfeed, he screams and gets so angry when I try to feed him. Ive been at a complete loss as he never gets so unsettled like he has been during the bedtime feed these last few days.

Last night I offered him a bottle of formula just to see what would happen and he guzzled it down! He is still having about 4 breastfeeds during the day which are all going good still. Is this the start of him self weaning? I'm confused!

Ideally I'd like to wean him from daytime feeds so I can continue evening feeds when I'm back to work in a couple months.

Any thoughts/advice will be really appreciated!

TIA x

Probably just a phase. Just go with his lead offer the boob if he refuses don’t try again just go for a bottle , you’ll prob find he’ll be back to boob pretty quickly

Sounds like a phase to me too, I think they self wean much later but I could be wrong.

Could he be teething and the latch is irritating his gums? Maybe try some baby bonjela or teething powder 15 minutes before a feed?

@Mumoftwo2022 and @MrsTeepee thank you both for your helpful responses. He is teething but feeding fine throughout the day so i didn't think it was irritating him but I'll give some bongela a go. Thanks for the tip! Do you think I need to pump while he's refusing his feed at bedtime to keep up my supply?

A shame? Quite how? Or do you like judging other people’s use of language (like what term of endearment they refer to their maternal roles as) as well as the ways in which they feed their babies?

Thanks @nightmaries 😊 I feel sorry for those that take time out of their day to make rude comments. Speaks volumes as to how content they are with their own life. I am one very proud mumma!
