Breastfeeding baby with reflux and colic like symptoms

Hi everyone, looking for some advice.
I am currently breastfeeding my 5 week old baby who has colic like symptoms - Struggles to pass wind and strainning/screaming when trying to. We used infacol for the first few weeks and now switched to gripe water - it has helped to bring a burp easier at times. We also do the tummy exercises which sometimes helps take wind out but baby is still distressed.
He also has been suffering with reflux, ive tried all the positions and nothing seems to help. We hold him upright for 20-30mins after a feed but still sometimes an hour later he throws up when putting him down. He doesnt throw up a large quantity after every feed but does a few times a day, like all the milk has just come out.
Dr has given gaviscon but very reluctant to try it due to Constipation and may make him passing wind etc worse?
Has anyone ever been in this situation and any advice at all - both to help wind issues and reflux?
Thanks

Have you had your baby checked for lip and tongue tie? It could be partially due to the latch letting in too much air.

I was in the position gave gaviscon have constipation. Stopped gaviscon miserable baby. Tried omperazole minimal improvement until we were put on the highest dose. I then went dairy and soya free. We had to reintroduce the gaviscon as well and add in lactulose for the constipation. This got us into a better place. We ended up adding in domperidone too.
Constipation is a pain but uncontrollable reflux in my experience is so much worse.
My daughter is still on meds for her reflux aged 4 as she hasn't outgrown. We were on and off gaviscon for 3 months before we went down the stool softener route and I wish we had tried it earlier.

Agree with having a look at Tongue Tie. I think that should be the first thing to rule out.

Is there a BFing Supoort Group that you can get to?

This article on normal newborn feeding might help.

And this one on gassy babies might help too Flowers
