My DD is 15 months and has been EBF since birth (obviously she also eats meals now too!).
She started to grow one of her front teeth around 3/4 months ago and it is growing in weirdly. It's essentially a spike. Shes been to the dentist who said it will probably level out and might just be growing in at an angle, but it seems to be taking forever to properly come in. It's so sharp that it pierces the skin on my nipple.
DD isn't biting, it's just where her tooth touches the nipple during the feed, and it's only happening on my right breast which makes me think it might be positioning, but I have tried different ones and it's still happening. She feeds twice a day (first thing and last thing).
I am finding blood in my bras after feeding and dread feeding on the right breast. My areola is also scarred and I'm thinking that might be permanent. I'm not particularly bothered by that, but it demonstrates how damaging this is. I'm conscious that I don't want to cause any injury that will impact breastfeeding future children!
I've been just waiting for it to pass because I'm reluctant to stop feeding over this. I just planned to stop when she was ready. But this pain is really distressing!
Any ideas?
