Recently diagnosed reflux

After 2 weeks of my son constantly fussing and crying around the clock, diagnosed with constipation and given lactulose, and advised comfort milk so I switched from HiPP to cow and gate comfort. 111 doctor said he had reflux and prescribed gaviscon.
my son is 6 weeks old, feeds around 4/5 oz every 3-4h (except at night as he sleeps well so sometimes he’ll sleep 5/6h) he was 9lbs at birth so he’s a big boy 😄
any advice on reflux? He never actually brought up much formula or vomited, so I was surprised the gaviscon worked! hes had the calmest day in weeks.
we always burped him throughout a feed and after, fed upright, kept upright at least 30 mins after each feed.
how long can they keep him on the gaviscon? He’s on 2 sachets per feed, max 12 in 24h, is it okay to do the 12? Or should I do one feed with and next without etc. Does anti reflux milk work? Any advice would be great!
Had none of this with my daughter, she was on HiPP and was a settled baby so this is all so new.

Silent reflux can be tricky to identify at first.
If the gaviscon isn't enough do ask about omperazole
The biggest lesson I have learnt about reflux is it isn't linear. I was sold the line that they grow, they get stronger, they stop having reflux.
In my experience growth spurts trigger a relapse in symptoms and then there's an improvement. Teething and colds make it worse too as they start producing more saliva and snot.
If feeding upright and holding upright doesn't help try keeping them in the position they fed in for 20-30 minutes. Moving to the upright position was more than enough to start my daughter refluxing but not moving her was more helpful

You might find the gaviscon makes them a bit constipated. We had to give lactulose for the constipation. I would build up the gaviscon and see how much you need. Definitely do it in any bottles prior to a sleep. I think we peaked at 9-10 sachets a day. She had very short frequent feeds so we did 1 sachet a feed. She was breastfeed and had feeding refusals so we had to give it after a feed as it was unpredictable whether she would actually feed after asking for a feed. She's 4y now and still has gaviscon in drinks before bed

Sorry I don't know much about the anti reflux formulas due to food allergies when I stopped breastfeeding my daughter went on to cmpa formula
