11month old wanting to wean

My son is now 11 months old and I am in the sixth month of my second pregnancy. Up till recently, everything has been fine.

The problem is that recently he has been rejecting the breast, he seems to be deciding to wean himself. I didn't want to wean him and in fact was preparing to do tandem breastfeeding, and this has come as a bit of a surprise.

It has been suggested to me that the milk has probably turned to colostrum because of the stage in pregnancy, and that he doesn't like the taste, or it isn't like his familiar milk.

I don't know if this is true or not, but either way, I'm wondering if there is anyone with any experience of this. Is there any way to stop him from weaning? Should I even be considering continuing breastfeeding? (Some people have said to me that I should just go with the flow and take this opportunity to wean.)

Any advice would be very welcome!

If he's happy to wean, perhaps you should just let him? After all, weaning because the baby wants to seems to be much the easiest and pleasantest way to do things for everyone!
