That typo did make me giggle. 😊 It's 'weaning.' 'Weening' looks so cute though!

Anyway, little jars of baby food was where we started when weaning our children. Smile

Also squashed banana, and liquidised fruit and veg. And yogurt.

I did keep on breastfeeding as well though (for a few meals a day.)

HAHAHA oh sorry! Thank you :)

Did you swap any feeds out for food or just introduce ?

For example baby porridge for breakfast do you take away the morning bottle?

Thanks

My son had terrible reflux just start introducing one food at a time as we found he reacted to a lot! Don't replace the milk they wont eat enough to full them up for a while

I think the best thing is to ask the medical professional that recommended early weaning for advice specific to your babies needs, or talk to your health visitor.
At four months milk should be making up the majority of their diet, I would get proper advice before cutting out bottles.

I'd let baby drop the bottles at their own pace. So give baby their morning bottle and offer food roughly an hour later.

There are some ideas of first foods to try on page 17 of this guide.

What help are you getting with the reflux apart from being told to wean early?

Does LO have prescription milk or any reflux medication??

I went to GP yesterday and all he said was "they grow out of it best to wait" becuase we have mim cow and gate reflux milk and he ended up in a&e die to constipation

I would ask for other advice to be honest. I don't think early weaning should be used in place of reflux treatment.
Ask about omperazole.

My daughter has had severe silent reflux and has needed high dose omperazole to manage it and weaning did absolutely nothing to improve her reflux. My sister and severe projectile vomiting in the 80s when they didn't treat reflux and early weaning was promoted at the cure. My mum calls weaning her as traumatic allow this was at about 12 weeks after being admitted for refeeding at 10 weeks at less than 1lb over birth weight.

The evidence on early weaning to improve reflux is patchy and I think should be done under paeds or dieticians as a lot of the early foods you give to babies trigger reflux. My sister only out grew her reflux at aged 2 and my daughter is about to turn 4 and still is heavily medicated for reflux as she has shown no signs of outgrowing it. We are in the minority but I think I would be asking for a second opinion before early weaning as an alternative to reflux treatment.
