Irregular periods 14 months post partum and breastfeeding

Hi - I wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience or advice? I do plan to see a GP but always good to get other mums advice. I am 14 months post partum and currently do only 1 breastfeed in the morning.

I had my first PP period at bang on 12 months, which of course coincided with the first day of my summer holiday. My DD was very unsettled in the hotter climate that week and breastfed probably 5-6 times a day, but since then it has gradually reduced to one per day. I have had some signs of ovulation but 2 months has now passed and nothing except for the occasional spotting. Does that sound like something to be worried about? Or is it common for periods to be so irregular when you’re still breastfeeding a bit?

any advice is much appreciated!

Sounds like you're returning to fertility and if I remember correctly, your periods can take around 3 months to settle down. Plus you've had the spell of DD feeding more for a while.

This article from Kellymom explains the return to full fertility better than I can though Wink

I had stopped breastfeeding but it took a few months for my periods to become regular and then I had a 14 day cycle for a year! Various tests nothing concerning then it went to 28 days.
It takes time for the body to adjust again and the small amount of breastfeeding might contribute. Monitor for a bit and speak to your GP if concerned
