Hi all, I really hope someone can help! Abit of a long post as its been 3 months of hell but will try to narrow it down as best i can.
DS is currently 3 months old, he is on pepti 1 and Gaviscon due to having blood stained mucus in his stools & projectile vommiting/spit up at 4 weeks old and suspected silent reflux. Gaviscon made him constipated so i did wean him down and his reflux has gotten better over time on its own so he only has it twice a day now. I am unsure he even has CMPA, however we have been told not to change his formula just incase he does have a severe reaction. My problem is the pepti 1 is so thin! Ds is spitting up so much that i am changing his outfit constantly, he isnt bothered by the spit up but he has choked on it sometimes hours after his feeds which scared me. A big issue lately is that his gas is unbelievable and smells horrific, his stomach is always distended as though it is full of wind but i dont believe it is trapped as he must pass wind atleast 50 times a day! He is on 6oz of formula but only really drinks 5oz, currently using Dr Browns bottles with size 1 teat (have just bought size 2 to try) and it takes him about 30 mins to drink it. I feel like the pepti doesnt fill him up as he is wanting to feed so often but them ofcourse guzzles the milk, spits loads up or falls asleep on the bottle (often of a night). He is also currently fighting naps like his life depends on it, is waking frequently through the night (whereas he would only wake once previously) and seems to be crying more than he is happy which is breaking my heart. I feel like im at whits end, we have seen the GP so many times and feel like we are so often dismissed or told “It will get better when he can sit up himself or once you start weaning” which really doesn’t help! Can anyone offer any advice? Has anyone had similar issues? Should we try Carobel or anything else? Please help x

My daughter has reflux and allergies. She needed gaviscon and lactulose for the constipation as well as omperazole and me going dairy free.
It might be that the formula still has dairy in that is causing the reflux. It might be worth trialling an amino acid formula. Also thin so would need thickening too

Carobel is an option, there is also magic mix and thickneasy. My daughter is allergic to carob in carobel so we stuck with gaviscon
