Hi All,

I have a tommee tippee steam Steriliser. I have seen many YouTube videos etc but still can't figure out exactly the best way to descale Steriliser.

I have seen on mumsnet that people used 'white vinegar' to descale. However, I oh have 'distilled vinegar'. Are those two the same thing??

And please could you advice me as to how to descale the Steriliser, like how much vinegar to put etc and if I need to run a cycle of Steriliser on its own etc.

Thank you in advance

I had that exact one and I just used to pop a teaspoon of citric acid in it. Just be sure to do it by a window because of the fumes

I've never used vinegar, I use citric acid powder as that is what is usually advised in the instruction manual. The manual should give you pretty comprehensive instructions on how to descale it correctly - if you don't have the manual they are usually available online.

Sorry, I've just looked at the instructions and they are pretty vague. When I have descaled an Avent steriliser, I have used a sachet of citric acid with enough water to cover the element bit at the bottom, then I rinse it out and run it again with just clean water, before using it to sterilise bottles.
