By popping your boob out right there and then?

I'm really feeling a lot of anger and defensiveness comming from the posters on this thread.

I can only imagine it's becasue you have had some unwanted reactions to breast feeding.

I think breast feeding in the pool is a bit like sining loudly in the pool to calm your baby. It would upset some people, and therefore be bad manners. You would definately get some funny looks. But hey, you havn't hurt anyone, and your baby is happy.

LynetteScavo · 13/04/2008 21:59

Chesthair - sexual?

TotalChaos · 13/04/2008 21:59

there's all sorts of flesh on show at a swimming pool, would have thought it would be the last place on earth possibly showing a bit of tit would be inappropriate.

SoupDragon · 13/04/2008 21:59

"it's wrong for any bodily fluids to enter a swimming pool IMHO"

You don't leave sweat in the pool then? You seal off your fanjo to ensure nothing leaks out? You don't take a non-toilet trained child swimming (those swim nappies don't hold wee in very well you know). You didn't go swimming whilst you were bf-ing and leaking milk? Water never enters and leaves your mouth?

Simple BF-ing pales into insignificance compared to all those.

anger and defensiveness? lol lol lol.

nope, not here anyway.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 13/04/2008 22:00

I haven't read this thread, but in answer to the title,
Yes. I have, and I would again. I sit on the side, wrap a towel around us and feed him. I have a 4 yr old and it is unfair to him that he only gets 10 mins in the pool if his brother is upset.

SoupDragon · 13/04/2008 22:00

Quite frankly, I'm more comfortable about someone bf-ing in a pool than thinking about all those sweaty groins that have been sluiced by the pool water.

LOLOL. You realise the irony of that statement, dont you LS?

unknownrebelbang · 13/04/2008 22:05

I wouldn't have done (rebel tries to think back, it's been a while).

Although I fed all three for over 12 months, they weren't fed on demand by that point.

Plus, I'm not sure I was in a fit state to take all three of them swimming on my own when DS3 was 1.

bozza · 13/04/2008 22:14

TBH I think it was ill-judged to take 3 children swimming on your own when the youngest was a baby who had not been previously. The rules are one to one for under 4s and one to two for under 8s. So unless you had two over 8s you were flouting those guidelines.

Mind you, I do flout them myself by taking my 7 yo and my 3yo on my own. But I am aware of how capable they are and how much supervision they need and only do it at the local pool. So that is my copout for my hypocrisy.

LynetteScavo · 13/04/2008 22:21

So my unwanted reaction is making you feel so angry and defensive?

Why cant people just get on with comforting/ feeding their child quietly with out making a song a dance about it. I have fed in all sorts of places, as is neccessary when you have two active older children.
No flashing boobs, just quietly feeding. I'm really not bothered about getting my boobs out, I just don't see any need.

And yes, I do think cows milk is gross!

kiskideesameanoldmother · 13/04/2008 22:22

the OP had one 8yo, bozza

SoupDragon · 13/04/2008 22:23

I don't understand why you say it's OK to swim topless but bf-ing a child isn't??

kiskideesameanoldmother · 13/04/2008 22:24

"Why cant people just get on with comforting/ feeding their child quietly with out making a song a dance about it."

ERR, that was what the OP was doing but got some silly stares for it.
snurk.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/04/2008 22:30

Next time I see Liza Minelli b/feeding her child in a swimming pool, I'll pass on your comments LS

breastcrawl, anyone?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/04/2008 22:32

so impolite

SoupDragon · 13/04/2008 22:33

Perhaps peoples don't like to see bf-ing in a pool because they might get confused about how to do breaststroke.

seeker · 13/04/2008 22:37

What I find very puzzling is this idea that some people take their tops off, wave their breasts round in the air for a bit, then leisurely put a baby to one of them leaving enormous quantities of flesh exposed. I have never ever seen this happen. Never. And I have never done it either. Has anyone else? Or is it an urban myth? Or does it happen in trendy Islington as a sort of political statement that hasn't reached me down here in the sticks?

VictorianSqualor · 13/04/2008 22:38

PMSL seeker

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/04/2008 22:38

LOL soupy

NOT for the fainthearted or easily offended

LynetteScavo · 13/04/2008 22:40

The swimming topless link was suppossed to be humourous.

So you want to breast feed in the pool, breast feed in the pool, I DONT CARE! I really don't care.

Stuff anybody who may be offended, stuff anybody who isn't brought up in the same culture that I was.You know, I'm just going to be so less considerate to people from now on so thay can all so what I do is normal, and come around to my way of thinking.

If you want to feed in a swimming pool go ahead. FFS! If you want to totally bare your breast and walk around topples while feeding your baby go ahead! I so don't care.

23balloons · 13/04/2008 22:42

NO!!

VictorianSqualor · 13/04/2008 22:45

I'm totally lost as to why someone would wear breastpads in a bikini.

LynetteScavo · 13/04/2008 22:47

Because you wouldn't want milk stains on your bikini!
