I am 31 weeks gone and over the last couple of days I seem to be very damp downstairs - to the extent that I am not wearing pj's in bed but a t-shirt and pants so that everything is washed everyday. I am changing undies during the day too. Normal or not?

I think you've put this in the wrong section.

Possible causes:
-could be normal. Discharge does increase during pregnancy. it should be coulourless and not smelly.

-Infection such as thrush in which case it may be smelly and a funny colour.

-Waters leaking. Do you notice the leaking?

You should probably go to you GP/midwife and ask their advice.

Finally pregnant I had the same pb on Tuesday (see my thread in pregancy called "lulu, mars and any other midwifes - advice re water leaking).

I had the same problem in my first pregnancy and it was my water leaking. Luckily I had my antenatal class that evening and the teacher told me to ring labour ward. They told me to come straight in to be monitored. When I got there I was in premature labour. They gave me something to slow down labour while they could give me two injections of steroids to mature the baby's lungs. In the end the drugs managed to stop my labour completely (after 18 or 24 hours).

I had the same problem this week, don't know what caused it as I am still waiting for my test results (another 30 minutes to wait). But this time I am not contracting.

I do not want to worry you with my post, just want to say. If you are in any doubt you should call your midwife or the labour ward. I had to go in to be monitored on Tuesday. It is best to be safe rather than sorry although as Belgo pointed out, it could be a number of reasons.

If you have lower back pain though call your labour ward immediately please.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes will be worried for you now

totally agree with belgo and NAH

probably just extra discharge, but anything that is wetting through your clothes should be checked for your peace of mind.

needahand · 11/04/2008 17:33

Are you going to call your MW?

lulumama · 11/04/2008 17:38

have you had your results back, NAH?

needahand · 13/04/2008 13:50

Hi Lulumama. I called the surgery on Friday but I have to go back to the doctor and redo some tests (blood and uring I think) on monday. The secretary told me why but I didn't really understand what she was saying (medical jargon). I should have written it down really. Can't be too dramatic or urgent though otherwise they would have done something sooner than Monday. Still no contractions so I am not too worried
