Baby unsettled after switching to formula

We’ve just started to transition to formula from expressed breast milk, baby is currently 11 weeks.

Up until about 9 weeks he was very colicky and prescribed omeprazole as well as having a tongue tie correction. From then he started being much happier whilst still having some symptoms I wasn’t sure about but have been assured by GP he is just colicky, even though I said he no longer really cries for unexplained reasons but definitely seems uncomfortable. I suspected CMPA but have been told they don’t see anything medically wrong with him as he is putting on weight well.

We started formula Monday this week (cow and gate comfort, checked with GP if ok to use the comfort type) and he has regressed entirely. He’s crying loads, squirming and writhing more than ever, sleeping terribly (can’t stay asleep and wakes hourly overnight - we had been getting 4-5 hour stretches), his back arching and legs up to tum feels constant, and his poo is full of mucus.

I know that not every formula agrees with every baby so I’m wondering if it’s worth trying a different formula before going back to the GP and pursuing my CMPA suspicions? We haven’t fully transitioned yet as I am weaning from expressing slowly, he is currently having every other bottle as formula so half of his intake.

I think that might be CMPA although I'm not a HCP.

Have a read of this from Allergy UK and see if any of the symptoms seem similar Flowers

Sounds like CMPA, especially the mucus. Can you keep breastfeeding? We had these symptoms when we tried our LO with formula, confirmed CMPA and went back to breastfeeding after cutting all dairy out of my diet. The prescription formula is foul and really lacking in any positive nutrition

Sounds like CMPA. I agree with pp - can you cut dairy out of your diet and breastfeed again? CMPA formulas are utterly vile and bf a CMPA baby is so much better for them.
