Reflux baby on Nexium 10mg - 6 months corrected age

Hi all, looking for advice on weaning off Nexium 10mg.

My son was diagnosed with silent reflux when he was 2 months corrected age. The doctor prescribed Nexium 10mg which seemed to help. Now fast-forward 4 months, my son is 6 months old corrected and taking solids like a champ. We had discussed with the prescribing doctor that we would wean him off the medicine when he started solids.

Before we started weaning him off, we went away for 10 days and forgot the Nexium at home, and we were unable to get any from the local pharmacy, so we accidentally stopped giving it to him cold turkey.

Now we are home, and he has been having symptoms since the medication was stopped - difficulty settling into sleep, arching his back at night, constant night wakings etc

My question is - is the resurface of the symptoms due to stopping cold turkey OR could it be he wasn’t ready to stop at all? Should I give him Nexium again after stopping for 10 days everyday or do every other day?

Desperate for some advice, thank you!

I think it probably means they aren't ready. I would approach your GP or prescribing Dr about how to reintroduce it

Weaning made no difference to my daughters reflux

Weaning made no difference for us either as it turned out that DS had Tongue Tie.
