but do you take the gap between feeds as from the beginning of one to the beginning of the next, or from the end of one to the beginning of the next?

always wondered, as if my ds has a mammoth feed - say an hour, then the gap between feeds varies a lot depending on where you count from!

not really sure how much it matters but i'd still like to know what you all do - is there a 'standard'~?!

From the beginning of one feed until the beginning of the next.

ta wigwambam! so is that what everyone does? actually does make a big difference as i always counted it from the end of one to beginning of next.

still not sure what happens when it comes to crazy fussy feeds, i guess if he's on n off for an hour and a half you still count from the beginning??

I would stop couting to be honest
maybe vaguely notice it but thats all
you dont need to feed at certain times, feed when hungry

Well - if you are demand feeding it doesn't really matter when they feed does it?

But I suppose if, for example, you were trying to deal with possible fore milk overload and you were feeding every 30 mins and were advised to string it out to feeding every hour and a half it would matter.

And yes, it is how everyone I know counts it - so if a feed takes 1 hour or more and the baby naps for 30 mins, plays for 30 mins and then yells that's feeding 2 hourly!

I must admit I just shove a boob in dds mouth whenever a) she starts head butting my chest, b) gets a bit grizzly c) my boobs hurt. It seems to work for me

chunkypudding · 06/04/2008 16:02

no i don't count in that way, am not trying to make bubs fit anything, we're both quite happily feeding on demand.

i only asked as i was curious when others talk about times between feeds.

obviously managed to sound a lot more controlly than i am!
