BF while pregnant??

I bf my DD, 9 months, twice a day (morning and evening). I have been thinking I will stop quite soon for a number of reasons - she doesnt seem that interested, plus she now has a tooth and it is getting painful! I found out yesterday I am in fact pg again. I just wanted to know whether I can continue to bf DD while pregnant? Will it affect my milk supply? As I say, was thinking about giving up anyway, so not a major issue, but had hoped to carry on for another month or so. Any advice???? thanks!

yes you can carry on bfing while pg, and even after the baby is born if you want to ('tandem' feeding)

good page on it here

I got pregnant at the same stage with my second child and I found that once you get to 3 - 4 months pregnant the milk supply really dwindles and extreme fatigue also set in for me . My dd was teething as well and becoming independent so she basically decided herself to stop . On my third my second also stopped at the same stage and I put him on bottles after that because he was only 8 months . So I think it depends on how commited a breastfeeder your child is . Also you get painful nipples and breasts but I didnt suffer too badly with that .

If you do decide to keep feeding through pregnancy, the only tip I'd have is to make sure you and your daughter are somewhere warm when you do it: even getting slightly cold was agony! But quite a high proportion of babies self-wean, which is apparently because the milk begins to taste different.

Yes you can carry on.

I also kept going until I was about 4 months pg. I didn't have any pain and would have been happy to go on longer but ds1 wasn't that interested and I thought it best to stop at a time that seemed good for him. He was a bit older than you lo though.
