I remember a thread years ago about a pharmacist or some website that gave more information about the dangers/ok medication to take whilst breast feeding if anyone can point me in that direction?
Im not pregnant but hoping to breast feed so can’t ask my midwife/would be taking medication that would have been stopped in pregnancy anyway so wouldn’t nessessarily be on someone’s radar about feeding questions.

Is it the Breastfeeding Network? I used their drug service a couple of times and found them extremely helpful.

Hope your TTC goes well Wink

I am on long term medication. Prior to trying to conceive the first time I spoke to my GP who wrote to a consultant to ask for advice. They gave the evidence for risks in pregnancy, immediately post partum and with breastfeeding. My medication is safe in pregnancy and breastfeeding but there is a higher risk of poor neonatal adaptation syndrome so we had to have 3 days in hospital after she was born to check for this. She was completely fine. This can happen to any baby but the risk is a little bit higher if exposed to certain medications in pregnancy

When my daughter was 10 months old I had to start a medication I couldn't breastfeed on. I was still on this when wanting to conceive a second time. I arranged an appointment with my consultant and over 6 months we removed any medication harmful to the unborn or whilst breastfeeding.

I have found my gp and consultants very accommodating for explaining potential risks and not requiring me to actively pregnancy or breastfeeding to ask the questions about safety
