Breastfeeding in football position

Hi,
I have been ebf for 7 months now. At the start up until around 4.5 months I was getting reoccurring blocked ducts and I nearly gave up bf but I found that amongst a few other things , feeding baby in the football position helped reduce the blocked ducts. I had always done the cradle position initially. I know for sure that baby is emptying my breast much better in this position (well not completely emptying, breasts dont get empty but you get what i mean). Now the issue I have is my baby is growing and I'm worried that it will be difficult to feed him in this position in the future. Did anyone else have this issue and found that only 1 position helped? I'm too scared to try other positions again in case I trigger the blocked ducts again. I had mastitis twice and I really don't want to go through it all again.

I'm also finding it so hard to feed him when I'm out and about in that position. I always have to go back to my car to feed him or go out between his feed times.

TIA

I had to feed my son in football position for my right side to control fast flow. Up to around 1 year old when the flow slowed right down. But it was only the one side so I could feed him in cradle on my left side if we were out of the house.
To feed in football position was quite a set up, only worked on the sofa or bed. So I understand your worry, this probably isn't much help.

That said, I would have thought a chance of a blockage would reduce once baby is regularly having solids so drinking less milk. So maybe another month or so and you might find the occasional cradle position won't cause any issues.

@DodgyCanOpener thank you for replying. Exactly you understand my struggle! I have to have a bf pillow and sit on the sofa or bed it's such a faff. When i feed him in the car i also have to have my bf pillow in there too. I guess the only thing is to start trying the other positions again. My flow is fast in football and he prefers it he gets frustrated when the flow is slow. My right side has a slower flow and he hates that side!
