I think I am feeling better today..... but been feeling under weather since thursday when I had a really bad headache / migraine (felt sick and just had to go to bed, DP had to take over baby care so missed a breast feed and wasnt well enough to express instead ). After this I got a pain in boob near arm pit and it felt a bit lumpy and with some pain at times when feeding LO and spent yesterday feeling very tired, brain fog and generally under par, only able to do minimal activities.

Feeling a bit more with it today but taking it easy. Boob feels more comfy although still slight pain if I squeeze area.

I hoping i am on the mend but just wanted to check if this fits with others experiences of mastitis?

It does sound like mastitis. Do you feel like you've been run over by a train/impending feeling of doom? That's what it feels like to me. Keep feeding and if any redness develops on your boob, go and see a doctor sharpish and get some antibiotics. Massage the painful area whilst feeding. Hot flannels/baths can help. Cabbage leaves in the bra are bizarrely effective but you do have to smell of warm cabbage 😂

Definitely don’t mess around if you suspect you have it. It can get awful fast. Ring the GP.

For me I went from a slightly tender boob at 3pm to temp of over 40C and uncontrollable shivering at 4.30pm. Despite getting antibiotics the next day I was then admitted to hospital over sepsis concerns. The only time I've felt worse is when I had Dengue fever, I couldn't believe how awful I felt. Now I'd always call immediately for antibiotics (rather than waiting for the doctors to open again) so if you have any doubts get in touch now. It can go downhill very fast.
