Does this sound like thrush to you?

I have got very sore nips and breasts at the minute. I have contacted the LLL for advice. From what they have said to me it sounds like I have thrush.

DD is 4 MO and I have had recurrent bouts of mastitis and blocked ducts. That I can deal with. But recently my nipples are very, very sore. I get shooting/stabbing pain in both breasts before, during and especially after feeds. The pain seems deep in the breast IYSWIM.

I dont have any red spots on my breats, but my nipples are red raw and very sore.

Does it sound like thrush?

Unfortunately that does sound like thrush - the exact same symptoms that I had. Have a look at the leaflet kazbeth recommends, and ask your doc to prescribe the fluconazole it recommends. Its the only way to get rid of the deep thrush, which is what i had, and what you seem to describe.
GPs are sometimes reluctant to give you a long course of fluconazole cos its not recommended if you are bf - my lovely health visitor gave my doc the BFN leaflet and he was ok with it then.
You will also need something to treat your LO at the same time - my DS didn't have any symptoms but he had daktarin oral gel and cream for his bum.

Does sound like thrush. You need to be meticulous about washing your hands after changing the nappy, try to let your nipples breathe - i.e. walk about with boobs out - LOL so that they are less moist. You need to boil wash your bras, PJ tops, nightdresses, possibly sheets - anything that comes in direct contact with your boobs. When I had it, someone recommended I make a mild vinegar solution to rub on your nipples with cotton wool after every feed. I think you can get grapefruit seed from the health shop as a natural remedy. And get something from the doctor to treat DC - otherwise he/she will keep reinfecting you.
