Formula to bf

Fed the first 24 hours then went to formula and haven't put baby to breast since. Today is day 7 and really wishing I tried harder to bf. Is there any chance of being successful at this point?

Give it a go. I was 50-80% formula for the first couple of weeks. Been exclusively on boob since about 7weeks. If you have milk pop baby on first every time to increase your supply and then top up with formula if unsettled. Ask your local breastfeeding support network for advice. Possibly the hardest thing will be the latch as it is different to bottles. I gave up after a week with my second and later wished I had tried again after a 24-48 hour break as always wondered if I could make it work so if you want to I would try as you never know! Good luck

Phone one of the breastfeeding helplines, they'll talk you through things. It helps to bounce questions back to someone in a real time conversation. I used to be a bf counsellor for a charity and I've seen it work, takes time and patience and the capacity to spend time skin to skin with the baby even if they aren't actually feeding helps. Wishing you all the best whatever you decide.
